For those who want to ensure as much as possible that building work is carried out as it is meant to be. These inspections can range from staged inspection, coinciding with progress payments, to single inspections such as wall and roof framing, or practical completion (handover). In case of doubt or if you are having a dispute with your construction contractor we offer an independent professional opinion and written report. There are two options, a simple inspection and report for your information or a very detailed and elaborate document if you’re considering legal action.

Apply to the assessment of new work by building contractors, or those purporting to be such. The scope is somewhat broader in that it also covers work that would not be classed as building work under the Development Act 1993.

Mediation & Conciliation

In case of a dispute between a house owner and a contractor we can come and investigate the situation the try to find common ground between the parties in order to solve the problem amicably. This only works if both parties agree to the mediation process and are willing to commit to agreements reached during the process.

Expert Witness

In case you need to take court action we are qualified to act as expert witnesses with respect to domestic construction issues. Please note that we will have to inspect the property and write a specially geared report referring to specific standards and codes before the court appearance.

Insurance Assessments

We also offer assessments of insurance claims, mainly at the instigation of insurance companies and assessors but we can offer an independent assessment as a second opinion in case you disagree with an existing report.

Dilapidation Reports

A detailed and itemised description of existing problems with a building or buildings located near a planned major construction project. This report establishes the condition of a building prior to major works in case of future claims against the project managers.

Even if you're not currently buying or selling a house you may want to have your home inspected for existing or potential problems that could become worse over time if left unattended.

These are in the nature of general appraisals as to the likely severity and causes of problems commonly affecting established dwellings. For the greatest part these relate to cracking of walls and ceilings, dampness and sundry problems such as failures in timber framed type components.

A written recommendation is supplied and a further inspection by a specialist may be required, often we can refer you to the right service or trades person.

Often we are asked if an inspection is necessary for a relatively new house. It can be a very good idea, especially if the building is less than five years old and still under builders warranty.
